News- Meanwood's Mad Keepers?
Ayden Fertug is currently Meanwood's number 1 goalkeeper. Ayden's strange behaviour and surprising skill has made him a popular Meanwood player. People regard him as Goals' best foreign import and his position as Meanwood's number one goalkeeper seems stable… However, Meanwood has been fortunate to work with some other sensational keepers. In this article we look at Meanwood goalkeepers of past and present and find out what they are doing now.

Paul Mallian
Let's start with Paul Mallian. Paul Mallian is famous for wearing more bling than any other keeper, much to the annoyance of some of the referees who requested that he'd remove it. He claimed that he couldn't live without it and he even used it for protection. However, Paul Mallian was and still is a very gifted goalkeeper, he had something unique. He had an unconventional but successful method of saving. He would save the ball with any body part that was required. Mally also has the ability to roll the ball out further than anyone could imagine, if Mallian was a bowler he'd be a world champion. He could split a defence in two with one long roll; no it's not a joke. During some matches, Mallian made more assists than players due to this unique talent of his. Mallian is the most successful of any of the Meanwood goalkeepers as he has won more leagues and cups than them.
Most famous moment: Refusing to take off his massive chain while going in net, amongst winning lots of league titles and cups.
Where is he now: He's Meanwood's number two goalkeeper and fills in for Ayden while his wrist keeps snapping.

This is another bizarre goalkeeper; he refused at all costs to tell anybody his name. He simply referred to himself as the "Best Keeper In Burley". He said very little and became one of Meanwood's most mysterious players. He was apparently Costa Rican, which may be why he spoke so little. However, he was a true gentleman no matter how strange he was. He would just turn up to matches without even knowing the kick off time. Technically, he was very similar to Paul Mallian and was an adequate replacement for him when he left…in fact he was like Paul Mallian's strange Costa Rican brother. Meanwood desperately needed a goalkeeper at this time, as players were having to take it in turns to go in net. Fortunately for Bissitt, our friend joined just in the nick of time.
Most famous moment: Lighting a fag in the middle of a match (see photo). Yeah, he actually did do that…strange to say the least.
Where is he now He just disappeared, Gafa once saw him on the bus though. He was recently spotted in London of all places.

Bradley
Bradley's stay as Meanwood keeper was short lived as he stopped turning up to matches. He played twice for Meanwood in the Mens League and was Meanwood's first reliable Mens League goalkeeper. He was technically very good and could save the majority of the shots. However, he never reproduced the form for Meanwood that he produced in the youth league as he joined Meanwood in the middle of a bad patch. Unfortunately, Meanwood never won with Bradley in net…however, that's not his fault.
Most famous moment: Turning up to a match with seconds to spare as kick off approached…
Where is he now: Currently playing for YP United Seniors, YP Juniors and even Leeds Lions. Still one of Goals' best youth keepers.

Woody
Woody isn't just a defender, he can also play in net. According to sources, Woody ditched a chance to go on trail for Leeds City Boys in net in order to pursue a rugby career, whether that is true or not remains a mystery. Woody was very reliable in net and rarely made mistakes. However, he conceded a lot more goals per minutes on the pitch than his good friend Ayden Fertug.
Most famous moment: Going in net to try and stop the route against FC Headingley.
Where is he now: Well obviously, he's Meanwood's only proper defender…isn't he?

Ayden Fertug - Meanwood's Number 1 Ayden Fertug
Now onto the great Ayden. Ayden is Meanwood's tallest ever goalkeeper, which is probably why he can stretch so far. Ayden only got his chance when Meanwood were desperate but he shocked everybody pulling off saves that would have made the players he succeeded proud. Technically, Ayden is still learning his trade but that doesn't matter because he can save most shots anyway. However, when Ayden does learn the tricks of the trade, he would become one of the best Goals' keepers ever…if he isn't already. We love Ayden…well as long as Ayden is in net we do.
Most famous moment: Turning up to Goals after £40 worth of kit of his first official match. As well as saving a one on one shot against O.P.L in the last minute to earn Meanwood a draw in one of Meanwood's best performances to signal his arrival.
Where is he now: In net or in bed with a sprained wrist that's lasted 2 and a half months.
