Meanwood came to Goals looking for three points to help get themselves out of the relegation zone. FC/DC were the enemy and they were the second team in a row to laugh at Meanwood before the kick off and expect an easy win…however, would they be the second team in a row to lose after doing so?
Aydan Fertug was injured, so Paul Mally returned to the Meanwood side to fulfil his position. Meanwood were also missing Daniel Woodward and James Milner so Dean Bell had to be drafted in and was given the chance to impress. This meant that some alterations had to be made in the way the team lined up with Mckieth dropping back to defence with Gafa and Dean occupying his usual place of up front who partnered Bissitt. The game started with Meanwood attacking from the off. Dean Bell came close to opening up the scoring but his shot was inches wide, Bissitt followed this up with another shot that skimmed the post. Meanwood were dominating the match but could not find a breakthrough. However, the opening goal came in the most unusual of circumstances when FC/DC's keeper fumbled a pass from his own player for them to concede an own goal. Meanwood found themselves two up when Gafa battled down the wing and managed to score from the tightest of angles. Meanwood were now in cruise control and Dean Bell smashed home to score the third. However, FC/DC replied to make the score 3-1. Bissitt then opened up his account, on what would be a glorious night for him, to make it 4-1. However, FC/DC scored again to make it 4-2, the score seemed to flatter FC/DC a lot at this point. Fortunately, Meanwood scored again through Bissitt…but this was followed up by some misfortune after Mckieth was bizarrely yellow carded and "sin-binned" after appealing for a penalty. The score at half time was 5-2, but with Meanwood down to four men would they be able to hang on? The answer was yes, as not only did they not concede a goal; they also scored one as well. Mckieth rejoined the action and the FC/DC floodgates opened up with Gafa adding another three to his account to score four, Dean also scoring another three to finish on four goals and in similar fashion Bissitt added another three to his account to score five. The only Meanwood player not to score was Mckieth who was quite unfortunate not to as he had a few good efforts that almost crept in. The final score may have been 14-4 but it could have been a lot worse for FC/DC if Meanwood hadn't have been unlucky. Man Of The Match- Richard Bissitt Richard Bissitt was superb all day, he regained his scoring touch and scored five past an FC/DC team that couldn't deal with him. He was a powerful presence up front and this unsettled the FC/DC defence and helped the rest of the team out as they had someone who could hold the ball and score. A truly brilliant display. Conclusion All in all, a glorious night for Meanwood as this moved them out of the relegation zone and into mid-table security. Meanwood are now playing some good attractive yet composed football. However, Meanwood's next match against The Big Kahuna's will be a stern test for the Little Bad Lads.
