Wesley Williams Wows But Meanwood Malfunction
Wesley Williams was the scourge of Grampa's 8 my Hampster as he grabbed all of Meanwood's 7 goals. However, this wasn't enough to deny Grampa's 8 my Hampster the spoils for the second time this season as they pipped a tired Meanwood team to the finish line. As the score line suggests, the game was a strange one with both sides displaying end-to-end attacking football.

Meanwood were determined to get their third back-to-back victory but were strained by the fact that the majority of the team had taken part in an 11-a-side match beforehand. To make matters worse Anthony Mckieth was missing through injury. Fortunately, Wesley Williams was on hand to make his first appearance for the club and what a difference he made…

In the early stages Meanwood looked the most promising and opening the scoring when Wesley Williams sent a powerful low driven shot into the bottom left hand corner of the net. Wesley's accuracy was immense and he added a second moments later with an identical shot. However, Grampa's 8 my Hampster forced their way back into the game when they ran at a previously tired Meanwood defence and slotted home to make the score 2-1.

However as the match progressed, Wesley Williams displayed yet more of his quality striking assets and he scored his hattrick when he sent the ball spinning into the top corner of the net. Another accurate shot and another goal for Wesley.

Towards the end of the first half Meanwood began to tire and they were ruthlessly exploited after Grampa's 8 my Hampster launched a first half comeback. Firstly, Grampa's 8 my Hampster's striker sent a long distance shot that took advantage of a deflection and sent Aydan Fertug the wrong way. To make matters worse, Grampa's 8 my Hampster's keeper rolled the ball down the middle to start a quick counter attack, which was finished off with a powerful shot from their striker to grab them an equaliser.

By now, Meanwood had crumbled under exhaustion and Grampa's 8 my Hampster took advantage of this. An attack down the wing allowed a Hampster defender to play a through ball to their striker who netted in a one on one situation to make the score 4-3 in their favour. The downpour was refusing to end and Grampa's 8 my Hampster's striker once again smashed the ball past Aydan Fertug to make the score 5-3.

However, the half still belonged to Wesley Williams and he capped it off with another clinically finished goal after Richard Bissitt had put him through one on one with the keeper. Seconds later, the half time whistle blew and Meanwood were narrowly trailing by 5 goals to 4.

The second half kicked off with Meanwood trying to pressurise their opponents. However, these tactics proved costly as Grampa's 8 my Hampster quickly counter attacked and put Aydan Fertug in a one on one situation. Grampa's 8 my Hampster weren't about to pass on this opportunity and they scored to increase their lead to two goals.

Meanwood tried to fight back and it was no surprise when Wesley Williams scored his fifth of the game to pull one back. This time, Wesley Williams received the ball on the right hand side and smashed the ball into the roof of the net. The Meanwood players were beginning to warm to Wesley Williams was saving them from humiliation.

Before Meanwood had the chance to build on their resurgence, Grampa's 8 my Hampster upped the tempo and once again took advantage of a tired Meanwood team after their defender ran through the majority of the Meanwood players and produced an effort that Aydan Fertug could only get a hand to.

Five minutes later Grampa's 8 my Hampster all but tied the game up after a mix up between Aydan Fertug and his defence caused Aydan to accidentally roll the ball into the path of Grampa's 8 my Hampster's striker who made no mistake and slotted home.

As the clocked ticked, Wesley decided to add to his total when he fired another shot that deluded Hampster's keeper and sent him the wrong way to score his sixth of the night. However, Welsey hadn't finished there as he scored yet again with minutes remaining after another pinpoint accurate shot that found the bottom left hand corner.

Gafa and Bissitt both tried to join Wesley on the score sheet as they both sent shots went just wide in the final minutes. Nathan Williams almost equalised with seconds to spare but his shot was well saved. However, their failure to score only served to remind people of what a great performance Wesley had produced.

Overall, Meanwood were unlucky not to get something out of the match as Wesley Williams' performance alone warranted victory and a fully fresh Meanwood side would have dismantled Grampa's 8 my Hampster. This is turning out to be a bastard season, all Meanwood need now are some injuries. Meanwood will have to recover from their narrow defeat in time for next Monday as they face Real Oriental in what looks to be a close encounter.
