Goals Galore (again) Against Kirkham
A large gathering of spectators had come to see Meanwood play Kirkham (well three, Dave Jones, Carrie and Jenna). Meanwood came into the match high on confidence after destroying Inter Mi Nan 13-5 in their previous match. Could Meanwood repeat this achievement and do their goal difference the world of good or would they be dead and buried before half time?

Meanwood were missing key players such as Dean Bell who was on standby for Farsley Celtic against Workington and Ayden Fertug who was still unfortunately injured. Super backup player, Jonesy, was also unfortunately not available as he had other commitments. However, Meanwood did have one backup player available in the form of Paul Mallian who went in net and this was enough for Meanwood to field a team. Joining Paul Mallian on another Meanwood adventure were Daniel Woodward, Anthony Mckieth, Richard Bissitt and Gafa. Could they provide the glory that Meanwood needed?

Bissitt- Top PerformanceThe match kicked off with Meanwood dominating from the start. Meanwood were unlucky not to score early on as Gafa's cunning shot went wide, it would turn out to be a night of jubilation and frustration for Gafa. Bissitt and Mckieth then both went close with efforts. Meanwood were unlucky not to score early on and were getting slightly frustrated. However, a goal was never in doubt as Mckieth broke free and calmly placed the ball to smash it into the back of the net. Gafa followed it up when he placed a shot past a despairing keeper to put Meanwood 2-0 up and in control. Bissitt then scored a stunning goal to make the score 3-0. Gafa, Bissitt and Mckieth all added another to make the score 6-0. Meanwood were firmly in control during the first half and they looked destined to be improving their goal difference.

The second half started disastrously for Meanwood as they conceded an early goal…Meanwood's fans were getting worried that they would throw the match away but all was forgotten when Woody sent a flyer towards goal to put Meanwood back in the drivers seat. Gafa then sent a player twice his weight flying into the boards and conceded a free kick…Gafa proved that he does have strength…but maybe he was using it just a tad too much. The second half was full of Goals (it always is) as Meanwood extended their lead. Gafa scored a few neat and tidy goals as well as a fortunate one to bring his tally to 5, Woody scored another two for him to score a hattrick, Mckieth and Bissitt both added a goal to their totals and also scored a hattrick each. The final score was Meanwood 14, Dan Kirkham 1…. Dan Kirkham are an average team, they are not too bad…but they do need to change their team name…let's hope they do it soon.

Gafa- 5 GoalsMan Of The Match- Gafa
Gafa was officially man of the match once again. The Meanwood team may or may not disagree with these awards but the referees are obviously noticing something that his team mates aren't. Gafa's movement today was good and allowed him to get in goal scoring chances. He may have missed some easy chances but he gambled and half of his gambles paid off. Gafa is not just the only Meanwood player to get more than one man of the match award in the Mens League, he's now the only Meanwood player to get three in total. He must be doing something right…

Conclusion
Overall an average performance against an average team. As the referee after the match pointed out to Dan Kirkham, they "weren't bad but Meanwood played a blinder". Meanwood created chances and were strong at the back…what more could a team want? If Meanwood continue to play like that then they are in with a shout of promotion and might even win the league. This result puts Meanwood in second place. Next up is a tricky encounter against Omar Superstars…can Meanwood inflict some revenge or will Omar be too strong…who knows…

Comments

Gafa
Another good performance…I did well to score 5 goals especially when I would have gone off with a bad leg during the first half if there was anyone to replace me. The team has been on fire recently and long may it continue…a big match next week against Omar…that match was only a warm up match to the big one. I bet our last two score lines have scared them a bit though.
Dave Jones
Meanwood were strong and didn't manage to get broken down, shown by the fact they only conceded one fluky crappy goal. The defence stayed tight (woody) and he managed to put in a good performance and break his personal record with a hat-trick. McKeith also did well, scoring twice, both in the first half. Bissit managed to slot 3 goals into the oppositions net. Gafa played exceptionally well and managed to score a mighty 5 goals, he was on a record for 6 goals but bad luck stopped him from reaching that target. Paul Mallian was solid in net but was never really tested much. In conclusion Meanwood were strong and they all put in a solid performance throughout. Man of the match was Gafa and it was well deserved.
