Sam Sawiuk, the madman, the bad man…the man gives an exclusive interview to Meanwood.da.ru and talks to us about his footballing life, his favourite moments and his earliest wild days at Goals. Sam also gives us an insight of what sinister plans he has for the future…a must read. Sam: The first time I went to Goals was with my rugby mates who I play for (Queens). We were about 13 or 14 and I thought it was excellent. I'd never been to a 5 a-side place so I really enjoyed it. What did you enjoy about it? Sam: Everything. The first time was in a tournament but we got disqualified for fighting. Your disciplinary record is criminal, why do you think that is? Sam:(laughing) Well I reckon it's because really I don't give a fuck. So if you don't like them, you snap them? Sam: Yep, even if I like them I will do, there are no friends on the pitch. I will always shake their hand after though. What happens on the pitch stays on the pitch. Are there any players you've come across that have really pissed you off? Sam: Erm.... I dunno really. Probably the big tall dude who came to play for Calverly Phoenix. He was a bit like me in a way expect he tried to fight and put in his place. Richard Bissitt claims that you stole the league trophies, is this true? Sam:(confused) Hmmmm. How could I have stolen them if I stopped going to Goals before Meanwood left. Interesting theory, what is your favorite Goals moment? Sam:(laughing) I think you already know, but for those who don't! We were playing some team from Horsforth if I remember and we were drawing. I snapped a guy and his mate from the sideline called me a pussy and I was so pissed off that we couldn't score that when the same guy ran at me again, I just booting him in the back. I got sent off and then I walked over to the guy who called me a pussy, headbutted him and he dropped like a sack of shit and I then stamped on his head. We then won that tournament. Who has been your favorite player to play alongside? Sam: I would say Johnny Milner, I think if he didn't have rugby commitments like I have. He could have become pro. And which would you say has been the worst? Sam: There was once a player who pissed me off called Alex Jones. He thought he was better than he was. And the most improved? Sam: I would say Gafa, he used to be shite (laughing), no offence but over the past few years he has improved a lot and in our last tournament we relied on him a lot to score goals. Considering you've been to Goals for such a long time, do you think you've seen many changes? Sam: Nah not really, just changes in faces. What does the future hold for Sam Sawiuk? Sam: Who knows… What about Meanwood? How do you see the team progressing? Sam: I reckon they will go on to win the league next season now. But when I make my return they will win everything again. (laughing) And finally what message would you give to Meanwood? Sam: Just keep playing like you are and wait for my return because when it comes…it will be big (laughing) Thanks for your time Sam: No worries, now back to reality. (laughing)  |
